Foreign exchange transactions
Foreign exchange is a service for obtaining foreign currencies or exchanging currencies (international foreign currencies) using the national currency.
- Possibility of carrying out the exchange transaction from account to account (exchange drawn)
- Possibility of physically exchanging currencies between themselves or against the national currency (manual exchange)
- Possibility for resident travelers to obtain hard currency against the CFA Franc
- Possibility for non-resident travelers to exchange their convertible currencies against the CFA Franc
- Target: Individuals and exchange offices
- The CFA franc is only convertible in the WAEMU area and in France
- Transfer of foreign currency to residents justified by a valid travel document, passport or visa
- Maximum amount of foreign currency allocated to individuals: 2,000,000 FCFA
Individuals
- A travel document to a destination outside WAEMU
- Valid identity document (ID, Passport)
- The notes to be exchanged or an account debit authorization
- A request for exchange authorization
Companies
- A partnership request
- The letter of notification of approval from the Minister
- Approval on valid Ministerial Order
- Authorization to open exchange counters
- A file for opening a regular current account
- Conditions of assignment to colleagues
- A currency purchase request
- Receipt of the exchange value in FCFA and commissions
